Our Wedding

Justin and Sammy met at Paddy Flynn's pub on a December night in 2016. Sammy was home for the holidays, visiting from Colorado, and out with friends when she caught Justin's eye. After getting to know each other over text for a few months, Justin began visiting Sammy for snowboard trips in Colorado, where he discovered that he had met his competitive match.Justin traveled to Colorado to visit Sammy, and she made some extra trips home before graduating and moving back to CA.Upon moving back to CA, Justin introduced Sammy to the California Delta, while Sammy introduced Justin to her culinary world. Both are better for it- Sammy can rip it on a jet ski and Justin has tried at least 300 kinds of fancy cheese.In 2021, they decided to move to the redwoods in a home they share with their dog, Ella. There, they continue to explore their love for adventure and the outdoors and have created a cozy home for their little family.9 years after that gin and whiskey fueled night at Paddy's, Justin finally popped the question at their favorite beach, Bean Hollow. If you ask Justin why he waited so long, he will tell you with absolute confidence, "Good things take time". You might catch Sammy rolling her eyes at this one.They are extremely excited to share what they call "their redwoods" with friends and family and hope you can join them at their favorite restaurant, The Mountain House.

Our Story

The Mountain House restaurant is surrounded by residential mountain homes and there will be no hotel options here.An Uber will be able to drop you off at our wedding venue, however it is very unlikely that they will pick you up. The venue will allow anyone who wants to park their RV or camper to stay overnight. For everyone else, we plan on arranging a shuttle to and from the Harbor in Half Moon Bay. If you are local or staying on the Peninsula, we will have a smaller shuttle that picks up at the brother of the groom's house in San Mateo.We are recommending that our travelers stay in the coastal town of Half Moon Bay at one of their many hotels or oceanfront rentals. We will have a shuttle escort guests on the wedding night. If you do prefer to stay closer to the wedding venue, there are a couple of glamping campgrounds as well as a few rentals. This hotel is a 15 min walk along the coast to the shuttle pickup location. It is also situated next door to the famous Sam's Chowder House. If you choose to stay here, please keep in mind that you will need to get yourself to and from the shuttle pickup location. This is where the bride and groom will be staying!

This is just a short 2 minute walk to and from the shuttle! It is located on the harbor and is surrounded by some great food options.

Oceano Hotel & Spa Half Moon Bay Harbor

This is one block away from the shuttle as well! It's a small beach front hotel named for the famous Maverick's surf spot.

The Night Before

Though we are not hosting a formal "night before", we would still love to spend time with friends and family before the madness of the wedding night. There is a bar on the harbor in Half Moon Bay called Old Princeton Landing (OPL). They are a casual bar with a great outdoor music venue and there is local food (big emphasis on the daily catch!) being served up at the attached food stand. We will update you on timing as the date approaches, but we plan on spending the better part of that evening catching up with loved ones in one of our beloved local spots. We hope to see you there! (hint: we're thinking 6:30-9:30 ish!)

The Day Of

Half Moon Bay hosts their seasonal farmer's market near the downtown right off Highway 1 on Saturday mornings. There are some great local breakfast spots (Johnny's is the best!) as well as cute coffee shops (Rebyl is great). If you would like to take some time to explore the coast, we highly recommend going to downtown Pescadero- a 1 block downtown just south of Half Moon Bay. Just beyond that is the beach where we got engaged, Bean Hollow. It is one of the most beautiful beaches you will find on the North Coast. You really can't go wrong on the coast but if you have any questions don't hesitate to reach out to either of us. We have lived near the coast for many years and have so many recommendations! Just remember to get some rest for the evening ahead!

The Big Night

If you are staying on the coast, there will be a shuttle from the Harbor in Half Moon Bay to take you to and from the Mountain House Restaurant. If you're local/staying on the Peninsula we will have a smaller shuttle that will leave from the brother of the groom's house in San Mateo.Our ceremony will be short and sweet! Please note that it is an outdoor ceremony and due to the terrain in the redwoods, it will be a standing ceremony.This will be followed by one of the best meals you will find on the Peninsula. The entire restaurant is ours for the night so there will be lots of time to enjoy the front bar and snap some photos in the vintage photo booth.Dinner will be followed by a quick cocktail hour and then the live band will take us through the rest of our night! Bring your dancing shoes!

Things to Do

Dress up to get down! We ask guests wear formal attire, meaning a suit for men and a midi or full length dress for the ladies. Please keep in mind the standing outdoor ceremony when selecting footwear.Sammy has chosen a color palette based on her favorite vintage plate (obviously) so if you'd like to get a little matchy-matchy here is a little color reference photo. No pressure to match if that's not for you - just bring your dancing shoes!
